It was an abstract idea from the start, to create a triptych of concrete panels with a image of the Israeli Security Barrier chemically embedded onto the surface of concrete using a 180 year old chemical recipe. I collaborated with concrete sculptor Noel Brennan and we set out on a three month, weekly process of chemical and concrete failures. After three months it eventually became a concrete existence due to the process of failure. The concept of two artists working in polar mediums was the most interesting part of the project. By chemically fusing digital images onto the surface of concrete, photography met sculpture, a concept I’d never imagined.
